Frequently Asked Questions
How does Web Diagnostics crawl my site?
Our software crawls your site much like a web browser does. It requests the page, downloads the HTML code and stores it in memory. It then analyses the content of your site using a specially written HTML parser.
Why is my site slow to crawl?
Some sites are slower to crawl than others for a number of reasons. 1) Your server could be situated a long distance from our server (and therefore the data has to travel further), 2) Your server could be generally slow or 3) Your HTML code could be very dense and may take a while to download.
Why do you have to charge £9.99 to crawl my entire site?
Crawling and analysing pages takes up serious amounts of processing power and other resources. It costs money to run a service like this as well as the cost of developing, maintaining and adding tests to the diagnostics tool. We feel that £9.99 represents excellent value for money when compared with other similar tools and once you've subscribed, you can run the tool as often as you wish (unlike other tools that require you to pay every time).
Where is your server based?
Our server is based in the UK at a London data-centre. When we run a report on a website, we do take into account that it may be hosted overseas.
How often do you update the tool?
We update the tool at least once per month with either a new test or an update to an existing test. Large updates (e.g. a new test or major bug fix) will be featured on the homepage of the site.
How do I contact you with a suggestion?
